Suzy Amis Cameron’s RCGD Global Evening Of Sustainable Innovation In Collaboration With TENCEL™ And CLO Virtual Fashion™
Suzy Amis Cameron’s RCGD Global Pre-Oscars celebration of sustainable fashion returned to Los Angeles on Friday 25th, March. The highly anticipated evening in partnership with TENCEL™ and CLO Virtual Fashion™ brought together friends and supporters of the organization to promote sustainability advances over the past two years within the design community. The evening also premiered the winning designs of the organisations 2020 and 2021 RCGD Global Design Contest to a cohort of sustainability supporters in Los Angeles.
‘Extra’ caught up with Billie Eilish, her mother Maggie Baird and brother Finneas O’Connell on the red carpet at the 2022 Oscars! Billie confessed to feeling nervous ahead of her and Finneas’ performance of their nominated song ‘No Time to Die.’ Billie also dished on her sustainable Oscars gown by designer Alessandro Michele.
Star of Uncharted, You and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Tati Gabrielle represented Suzy Amis Cameron’s RCGD Global™ initiative in collaboration with TENCEL™, as she shined on the red carpet at 94th Academy Awards ® wearing an ethical and eco-responsible Hellessy custom-made gown in a TENCEL™ fabric paired with HELLESSY archive golden fringe.

On Feb 6, 2020, the Annual RCGD Global™ (RCGD) Pre-Oscars Gala in partnership with TENCEL™ Luxe hosted an intimate dinner and cocktail party with over 100 friends, partners and industry executives. The launch celebrated a collaboration between textile giant Lenzing’s new luxury brand TENCEL™ Luxe and RCGD Global to launch a range of eco-couture materials.
The 11th Pre Oscar party was held at the private residence of Absolut Elyx CEO, Jonas Tahlin. Guests in attendance included this year’s ambassadors Kaitlyn Dever (Unbelievable, Booksmart), Léa Seydoux (Spectre, Bond: No Time to Die), and Elena Andreicheva (BAFTA winner and current Oscar® nominee), who were also announced on the evening, along with past partners and allies including Danielle Macdonald, Tiffany Haddish, Tyrese Gibson, Meena Suvari and Zelda Williams.

Celebrating 10 years of sustainable fashion, author, actor and environmental advocate Suzy Amis Cameron hosted her annual RCGD Global (RCGD) Pre-Oscars Celebration in partnership with Absolut Elyx, AMUR and AKA West Hollywood last night at the Albright Fashion Library in Beverly Hills. With over 160 guests, some high profile faces included this year’s celebrity partners Laura Harrier, Danielle Macdonald, last year’s representative LaKeith Stanfield, Amis Cameron’s husband James Cameron, Michelle Rodriguez, and Fiona Xie among others.
Oprah sits down with environmental activist, actress and author, Suzy Amis Cameron. They discuss Cameron’s new book, “The OMD Plan,” where she asks readers to commit to one plant-based meal a day to help save the planet and improve health.

Prior to the 90th Academy Awards®, nearly 200 people gathered for Suzy Amis Cameron’s 9th Annual RCGD Global (RCGD) campaign. The celebration was held in the Hollywood Hills at the private residence of Jonas Tahlin, CEO of Absolut Elyx. Rila Fukushima, Ashlan Cousteau, T.J. Slaughter, last year’s partner Priyanka Bose attended. All monies raised funds to benefit MUSE School CA, the environmental non-profit educational organization founder Suzy Amis Cameron with her sister Rebecca Amis.
In 2018, Zoey Deutch stunned onlookers in an Elie Saab archival gown with vintage details. The archive piece was embellished with silver silk threads, sequins and vintage beads from Mr. Saab’s Beirut atelier. The natural hand-dyed color of the dress is a tribute to the untouched beauty of the Indian culture with slowly embroidered handmade patterns—respecting artisanal and ancestral craftsmanship, and a nod to slow, considered fashion. The embroidery techniques used are passed on from one generation to another.
Lakeith Stanfield wore an ethical tuxedo by Ermenegildo Zegna Couture to support the campaign made from a navy Tussah Silk. Typically gathered in the jungle from cocoons of wild silk moths, the silk is found in a natural state with minimal human intervention and very little invasion to the process. For this reason, unlike a silk yarn produced with greater mechanical interventions, the yarn of Tussah silk features irregularities creating a rich texture, typical of wild, natural breeding. ‘Get Out’s’ Lakeith Stanfield joins THR on the 2018 Oscars red carpet to talk about the importance of the film’s nomination and his eco-friendly suit!
Fashion icon Camila Alves McConaughey took a stand for sustainability this afternoon when she arrived to the 90th Academy Awards® in a classic Vivienne Westwood archival gown in support of Suzy Amis Cameron’s RCGD Global (RCGD) ethical fashion campaign. The Vivienne Westwood dress was an ivory silk faille moire asymmetric gown with tulle petticoat. This grande corset gown made from an archival silk that was originally created at the London Atelier as part of their A/W2014 Collection. Alves especially selected this unique design from the Westwood classic collections, encouraging the revitalization of archival gowns.
MSU apparel and textile design senior Jillian Granz talks with MSU Today host Jim Peck about sustainable design and how she applied those concepts to her Red Carpet, Green Dress contest-winning design. Her design will be worn at the 2010 Oscars by Suzy Amis Cameron, wife of Avatar producer, James Cameron.
On the evening of February 23, 2017, stars came out to celebrate the Eighth Annual RCGD Global event hosted by Suzy Amis Cameron in partnership with Atelier Swarovksi, bringing awareness to sustainable fashion. In attendance were this year’s celebrity partners Emma Roberts (“Scream Queens”) and Priyanka Bose (“Lion”), in addition to actress Missi Pyle (RCGD Global previous participant) and Amis Cameron’s husband James. The event, also supported by Earth Friendly Products, maker of ECOS™ Laundry Detergent, had just under 100 attendees come together in support of the eco-friendly initiative.
In 2016, RCGD Global changed the campaign format, introducing an internship with leading global fashion brand, Vivienne Westwood. Sophie Turner wore ethical brand Galvan for the campaign. The “X-Men: Apocalypse” star reveals a secret about her “GoT” character to E!’s Giuliana Rancic. Plus, hear the actress talk about her sustainable Gavlan gown! Sophie attended the 2016 Academy Awards in a custom silvery mint corset dress made from sustainably-made crepe with a built-in corset and Swarovski crystal details. Galvan first launched with this signature silhouette and it has remained at the brand’s core ever since.
In 2017, the campaign worked with Vivienne Westwood exclusively to create an eco-gown for Emma Roberts and Priyanka Bose. Armani supplied a classic Giorgio Armani gown from his very first Prive’ collection. The gown was accessorized with exclusive pieces from Atelier Swarovski Fine Jewelry. The “Scream Queens” star recalls her fondest Academy Awards memory–and it involves her famous aunt! Take a look.

Jomnarn Dul’s design was worn by Kellan Lutz, of “Twilight” fame. Lutz’s tuxedo jacket was 45% certified silk and 55% rPET (recycled plastic bottles), his tux trousers are hemp dyed with logwood and his waistcoat is made from hemp and 100-year-old Spitalfields silk that was dyed with marigold flowers. Established designer Jeff Garner, of Prophetik mentored Jomnarn in the creation of her tuxedo.

RCGD Global celebrated 5 years of positive, sustainable fashion in Hollywood. Suzy Amis Cameron hosted an evening of cocktails, canapes and silent auction. Guests in attendance included Suzy Amis Cameron, James Cameron, Amber Valletta, Kellan Lutz and Naomie Harris.

Started by Rebecca Amis and Suzy Amis Cameron, MUSE School CA, is a non-profit school offering programs for early childhood through 12th grade.
Alice Elia, a former student at ESMOD in Paris designed Olga Kurylenko’s gown in 2014. Kurylenko’s gown is 100% GOTS certified organic peace silk and 100% GOTS certified organic silk, hand-dyed with Sappanwood and then over-dyed with madder root to achieve the resulting shade of red by Penny Walsh. Kurylenko wore a RCGD Global special vegan shoe – a faux suede, metallic-trimmed heel (a collaboration between PETA and ethical U.K. based footwear label Beyond Skin).
Skyfall actress Naomie Harris stopped to chat on Pop Sugar on her way inside the Oscars. She talked about her sustainable, volcano-inspired gown before heading into Hollywood & Highland to listen to Adele sing “Skyfall” and to see the special Oscars tribute to Bond. Ghanaian-born Michael Badger was the 2013 winner whose stunning gold creation made People Magazine’s Best Dressed List. Badger holds a B.F.A. in fashion design from the Savannah College of Art and Design in Atlanta, Georgia. Inspired by a volcano and how lava flows, his golden gown was created from fabric which is a GOTS certified silk Crepe De Chine, dyed using seeds from chamomile and goldenrod by Penny Walsh, and incorporated vintage and recycled elements – including candy wrappers. Dame Vivienne Westwood brought the stunning gown, worn by talented actor Naomie Harris, to life.

The short video ‘Designing Change’ follows Suzy Amis Cameron’s RCGD Global campaign from its inception with the Avatar press run in 2009 through to the recent Oscars ceremony in 2016, which saw Sophie Turner and Lily Cole walk the carpet as ambassadors.
