THE RCGD Global Design Contest 2020 in partnership with TENCEL™ Luxe is teaming up with TFS Natural Home by The Futon Shop to distribute masks to vulnerable garment workers in Myanmar and Bangladesh as part of the 2020 campaign
The RCGD Global Design Contest 2020 in partnership with TENCEL™ Luxe will be contributing funds to two crucial organisations, Awaj Foundation in Bangladesh and The Fifth Pillar in Myanmar (in cooperation with Fair Wear). During this time of uncertainty and in the midst of a global pandemic, many garment workers in Bangladesh and Myanmar are being pressured to return to work or risk forfeiting future income. These women, children and men with little to no protection, will be working within populated factory conditions and as a result, are extremely vulnerable to Covid-19.
In response to the need for PPE masks, TFS Natural Home by The Futon Shop quickly shifted production from organic furniture to organic cotton barrier and copper infused face masks. According to CEO, Suzanne Diamond of TFS Natural Home by The Futon Shop, “TFS Natural Home by The Futon Shop values the importance of this timing and given the shortage of vital PPE, we have donated face masks to San Francisco bay area homeless shelters, Native Americans, and health care workers.”
The company has already delivered over 30,000 masks to consumers and essential workers from state transportation departments, national parks, to front line restaurants and retailers, to country clubs and clinics. Based in San Francisco, TFS Natural Home by The Futon Shop has stayed committed to offering the best organic and eco-friendly ingredients, creating healthy, non-toxic furniture since 1976.
